Seniors

Festive Celebrations and Activities

Strengthen the sense of community among our seniors and create a joyful atmosphere at the CareElderly Active Ageing Centres by organising festive celebrations for them. The list of festive opportunities are as follows:

Lunar New Year

  • Plan and facilitate in-centre CNY-themed activities e.g., games, crafts, sing-along sessions
  • Organise a reunion lunch/dinner at the centre
  • Distribute goodie bags/red packets
  • Organise a Lunar New Year shopping trip for our seniors, especially for those without a next of kin.

 

Suitable Engagement Periods

  • Dates: 3 weeks before CNY
  • Timings: to be discussed with CCSS/CareElderly staff
  • Frequency: 1-2 times a month

 

Number of beneficiaries impacted

30-100, depending on type of engagement.

 

Budget Estimate (for one centre)

$40-$50 per pax

For outings, cost should also cover 2-way transport.

Hari Raya

  • Plan and facilitate in-centre themed activities e.g., Hari Raya crafts, themed trivia quiz, Bingo game
  • Distribute food rations to seniors (to be done prior to Hari Raya Puasa)
  • Distribute green packets

 

Suitable Engagement Periods

  • Dates: Open to dates in June and July (except Wednesdays).
  • Timings: 9am-11.30am

30-50 seniors per centre

National Day Celebrations

  • Plan and facilitate in-centre themed activities e.g., handicrafts, nostalgic sing-along, Bingo game, reminiscing Singapore’s past

  • Dates: Open to dates between 1 Aug and 8 Aug (except Wednesdays)
  • Timings: 9am-11.30am

 

Number of beneficiaries impacted

30-50 seniors per centre

 

Mid-Autumn Festival

  • Plan and facilitate in-centre themed activities e.g., handicrafts, lantern-walking
  • Distribute mooncake sets

 

Suitable Engagement Periods

  • Dates: Open to dates between 1 Sep and 10 Sept (except Wednesdays)
  • Timings: 9am-11.30am, 6pm-9pm

 

Number of beneficiaries impacted

30-50 seniors per centre

Deepavali

  • Plan and facilitate in-centre themed activities e.g., Henna art, Rangoli crafts, dance-along, Bingo game
  • Distribute cookies/muruku

 

Suitable Engagement Periods

  • Dates: Open to dates between 3 Oct and 21 Oct (except Wednesdays)
  • Timings: 9am-11.30am

 

Number of beneficiaries impacted

30-50 seniors per centre

Christmas

  • Plan and facilitate in-centre Christmas themed activities e.g., arts and crafts, distributing goodie bags, singing Christmas carols

  • Dates: Open to dates between 1 Dec and 23 Dec (except Wednesdays)
  • Timings: 9am-11.30am
