SWISH Youth is a community-based outreach programme that seeks to meaningfully engage youths aged 13 to 17 years old in MacPherson through basketball. Group work sessions are also incorporated in the trainings to build character, inculcate values and learn life skills.

Objectives

The three main objectives of SWISH Youth are:

  • To build resilience in youths
  • To develop the desire in youths to give back to the community
  • To develop leadership qualities in youths

Programme Features

In order to achieve the objectives of SWISH Youth, the youths will be provided:

  • Professional training on organised 3-on-3 basketball
  • Opportunities to participate in a basketball competition
  • Opportunities to co-lead and plan a community outreach event
  • Mentoring and guidance from the coach and volunteers
  • Platform to engage in healthy social discussions with other youths

 

The weekly 2.5 hours programme consists of 2 hours of basketball training, followed by 30 minutes of group work session.
