SWISH Youth is a community-based outreach programme that seeks to meaningfully engage youths aged 13 to 17 years old in MacPherson through basketball. Group work sessions are also incorporated in the trainings to build character, inculcate values and learn life skills.

Objectives

The three main objectives of SWISH Youth are:

  • Build a desire in youths to give back to the community
  • Equip youths with the confidence to lead and organise community outreach programmes
  • Develop resilience in youths to overcome challenges

Programme Features

In order to achieve its objectives, SWISH Youth provides youths with:

  • Professional training in playing organised basketball
  • Opportunities to participate in basketball competitions/friendly games
  • Opportunities to co-lead and plan community outreach events
  • Mentoring and guidance from the coach and volunteers
  • 1-to-1 basketball skills coaching from the coach and volunteers

SWISH Youth is a weekly 2.5-hour programme. Session timings may vary depending on the nature of the activity — for example, during friendly games or outings.
